Veganuary

What is it and should you get behind it?

Launched in 2014, Veganuary is dedicated to changing public attitudes, while providing all the information and practical support required to make the transition to veganism as easy and enjoyable as possible.

As we become a more conscious society, taking more responsibility of our impact on the planet, there has been a rise in those wanting to make a change. What is this change? Veganism

Vegans or plant based eaters follow a diet that refrains from consuming any meat products. This not only includes meat but other produce like milk, cheese and eggs.

As veganism becomes more popular, the BBC reported the latest research conducted by The Vegan Society, there was an estimated 540,00 vegans in the UK in 2016.

As a result in this ever rising way of eating, most supermarkets now stock plenty of vegan alternatives. these products include and a-ray of nut milks, vegan ‘cheese’ and vegan ‘meats.’ Thus making veganism easily accessible and more common.

You may have seen the latest food store to get behind veganism and veganuary is Aldi. Tweeting: “We’re making #veganuary our #newyearsresolution this #meatfreemonday”.

A store known for being more budget friendly, they have now expanded their customer base by adding a line of affordable vegan produce UK wide. Also stocking produce from other brands such as Hellman’s vegan mayonnaise.

Aldi are also highlighting families trying veganism for Veganuary across their marketing, such as the Clayton family.
